Wicking Beds In Action Near & Far.

One of our dreams is to see the wicking-bed principles used in developing countries, particularly in the semi-dry and dry tropics where water is scarce. Women especially can spend an extra-ordinary amount of time carting water to keep plants alive.

Plastic for liners is seemingly everywhere, and so are soft-drink bottles to make cheap but effective water storage. (See page THE EASY-GROW BOX about how to do this.)

Using local materials for the walls also helps to keep cash cost down.
